Extra Curricular Activities
The school is very proud of its wide range of enrichment activities and visits. We firmly believe that children learn best through active learning (seeing and doing), and activities are planned to enhance this. Professional speakers, artists, musicians, and sports men and women work with children in our school, and the children visit many varied venues to widen their horizons and enhance their knowledge and understanding of the world. All visits and activities are subsidised by the school, with parents requested to make a voluntary contribution towards costs.
Year 4 children have the opportunity to experience a residential course at Laches Wood Outdoor Education Centre, near Stafford, during which all children are encouraged to take part in activities such as orienteering, climbing, and team building.
All children are able to access an annual cycling safety programme from Year 1 onwards.
After School Clubs are offered on a termly basis. These currently include cooking, nature club, calligraphy and computers, depending on the availability of specialist staff and interests of pupils.
The end of each term culminates in a musical / drama production, which are very popular with parents, families and villagers. These productions are accompanied by our music teacher, and provide all pupils with an opportunity to dress up, act or sing, and demonstrate the enjoyment they have experienced while growing in confidence and learning to perform. All our performances are either written specially for children or adapted to suit the age and abilities of all our pupils.
